Position Summary

ACGT has a position available for a Bioinformatics Analyst at our Wheeling, Illinois location. We seek an enthusiastic and experienced candidate who demonstrates competence and skill with large data sets, rapid development and a variety of scripting languages, tools, and programming languages.

Educational Requirements and Experience

  • M.S. degree or Ph.D. in bioinformatics, biostatistics or a related field with appropriate experience in developing software.
  • 1-2 years work experience preferred but not required.

Job Requirements

Perform basic and advanced analysis on data produced from next generation sequencing systems (DNA-seq, RNA-seq, metagenomics, ChIP-seq, etc.) as well as genotyping and gene expression microarrays. Develop, improve, modify, and operate data analysis pipelines. Experience in de novo sequence analysis, re-sequencing, RNA-Seq. Develop software or use current open source software in conducting data analysis for NGS and microarray datasets at basic and advanced levels. Work closely with experimental researchers to generate/provide analysis reports, project reports and perform requested custom analysis etc.

Desired Skills

Strong bioinformatics analysis/scripting experience including proficiency with a scripting language (e.g. Perl). Experience in working in a Linux/UNIX environment and experience with cluster computing is a plus. Experience in software design and relevant sequence analysis tools/best practices. Experience with setting up and analyzing Illumina platform NGS datasets; large scale data analysis and sequence assembly and annotation experience is a plus. Knowledge, background and/or experience in molecular biology and microbiology. The successful candidate will be able to prioritize and balance multiple projects to meet timelines.

The application process will consist of a programming assignment in commonly used scripting languages, and interview (either in person or via Skype) for select candidates.

Position Summary

ACGT has a position available for a Quality Assurance (QA) Associate at our Wheeling, Illinois location. The QA Associate oversees and maintains ACGT’s Quality Management System (QMS). This position will establish, implement, maintain, and improve the policies, practices, and procedures necessary to ensure effective operations with our molecular biology services. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the QA Manager and laboratory staff to achieve compliance with applicable FDA and EPA regulations, and company SOPs, policies, etc. The QA Associate will serve a primary role in the QA unit and must demonstrate excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain QA databases and management of Document Control System (DCS).
  • Development, review and approval of relevant quality system policies and procedures.
  • Author, revise and track Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform quality review of documentation including raw data, test methods, protocols and reports.
  • This individual will be responsible for evaluating the compliance with protocols, SOPs, methods and appropriate regulations etc. with minimal supervision.
  • Review records for adherence to Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and verification for accuracy.
  • Oversee equipment calibration and verification.
  • Perform internal and external audits.
  • Maintain employee training program by scheduling, planning, leading, and documenting training activities.
  • Maintain vendor qualification documentation.
  • Review and approval of OOS and deviation documentation, root cause analysis and CAPA documentation.
  • Plan and monitor corrective and preventive actions by collaborating with the team and verifying effectiveness.
  • Facilitate customer, supplier, and other government or regulatory audits and visits.


Education/Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • 1 or more years of lab experience in molecular biology lab setting.


Required skills

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills (Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
  • 1 or more years of lab experience in molecular biology lab setting.

Position Summary

ACGT, Inc., a DNA sequencing and genomic research services company, has a position available for a Molecular Biologist at its principal location in Wheeling, Illinois. This position requires 2-3 years of experience with a working knowledge of DNA sequencing and general molecular biology techniques.

Job Description

  • Perform laboratory procedures following protocols for DNA sequencing, PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA & RNA extraction, plasmid purification, etc.
  • Sequence data analysis.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instruments independently.
  • Keep accurate laboratory records and data.
  • Responsible for assigned lab duties, maintaining lab stocks, solutions, reagents, and supplies.
  • Demonstrates initiative in problem solving to improve laboratory procedures.
  • Responsible for QA/QC procedures, as applicable.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biotechnology, molecular biology, bioinformatics or a life science field.
  • 2+ years of laboratory experience.

Job Requirements
