Legal Support
Genetic analysis is a state-of-the-art method for sample identification that is used by legal and scientific professionals worldwide. We offer a vast array of services for sample identity interrogation and verification using widely accepted genetic markers, and we can develop others for specific needs. Both qualitative and quantitative analysis can be used to determine identity as well as relative population distribution of one or multiple species within a sample.
From manufacturing products to forensics samples, a variety of molecular tools are used to determine the identity and complexity of test samples or evidence in question. Three genetic tools are routinely used at ACGT, Inc. in sample identification:
DNA SEQUENCING ANALYSIS:
The precise nucleic acid sequence of a gene in a sample is determined after bulk PCR amplification or
clonal selection, depending on the stringency of analysis desired. This is one of the more definitive
methods of sample identification in the industry.
SINGLE NUCLEOTIDE POLYMORPHISMS (SNP) ANALYSIS:
Common variations at the nucleotide level in DNA provide a unique set of fingerprint-like markers that are
used to evaluate samples and differentiate between them.
SHORT TANDEM REPEAT (STR) FRAGMENT ANALYSIS:
These species-specific genetic variations are another type of genetic fingerprint that are used to determine
the type and number of subjects in a particular sample.
